Mecklenburg County recently renovated the fourty year old Freedom Mall facility to house offices for the Department of Social Services, Information Services and Technology, voting machine storage and, eventually, offices for code enforcement, environmental services, and community support agencies. Mecklenburg County's Environmental Leadership Policy, adopted in 2004, resolves that County government will "operate in a manner that conserves and protects our air, water, and lan resources and become a model of environmental stewardship for local governments, business and industry in our region..."
